MauriceFlex: Flex Your Freedom

Flex Your Freedom

Introducing MauriceFlex, your new protein fractionation solution that lets you collect fractions for charge variant analysis. MauriceFlex gives you:

  • Freedom to do more with your fractions – analyze with intact mass, reduced and subunit mass, peptide mapping, and more
  • Freedom from laborious IEX and HPLC workflows – easily collect high-purity fractions without separate extensive development of chromatography-based fractionation
  • Freedom to do it all - icIEF, CE-SDS, and icIEF protein fractionation all in one instrument
  • Freedom to do more with your time - identify, separate, and fractionate charge variants in less than a day

MauriceFlex combines protein charge isoform fractionation with imaged-capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) and CE-SDS analysis in one instrument, so that you can go beyond routine size and charge and conduct charge variant analysis of your molecule at any stage without needing to rely on different methods like ion-exchange chromatography (IEX) and HPLC.

Are You Using IEX or HPLC for Protein Fractionation?

Protein fractionation with MauriceFlex renders significant advantages on time and capital when compared with IEX, HPLC and other existing technologies. The key advantages are:

  • Same-day fraction collection
  • High purity fractions
  • Single fractionation offering enough material for intact MS analysis
  • Compatibility with urea and methylcellulose
  • Ability to pool fractions for peptide mapping
  • Same system offering CE-SDS and cIEF assays
  • Eliminating the need for bridging studies

Maurice Flex Workflow - 6 steps for protein fractionation based on ic-ief

How Protein Fractionation Works on MauriceFlex

  1. An applied electric field creates a pH gradient across the capillary inside the MauriceFlex cartridge
  2. Proteins separate by migrating to different pH values on the gradient, based on their individual isoelectric point (pI)
  3. Introduction of ammonium acetate changes the pH gradient, mobilizing these separated proteins and resulting in elution (fractionation)
Charge variant fraction collection process on MauriceFlex is faster than IEX
icIEF protein fractions collected on MauriceFlex are compatible with mass spec analysis
