Simple Western Instruments and Consumables
- Size-based automated capillary Western blot assays
- Up to 25 samples per run
- Includes RePlex™
- Chemiluminescence detection
Simple Western™ is a next-generation hands-free capillary immunoassay platform combining protein separation with sensitive chemiluminescence and fluorescence immunodetection using conventional primary and conjugated secondary antibodies.
- Simple Western is the only fully automated Western device on the market. Traditional Western blotting steps of sample separation, wash buffer incubations, and immunodetection of target proteins occur inside a hands-free capillary instrument on your benchtop.
- Unlike traditional Western blotting systems, Simple Western does not transfer proteins to a membrane, removing the inherent variability of Western blotting and adding high-throughput sample processing and automated protein analysis.
- Simple Western separates tiny amounts of samples (<1 µg lysate/well) inside capillaries and cross-links your samples to the capillary walls. Then, Simple Western performs blocking and wash buffer incubations and uses just a few microliters of your primary antibodies and conjugated secondary antibodies to detect target proteins in chemiluminescence and NIR/IR fluorescence channels (LOD <1 pg).
Separate Your Protein Samples by Size or Charge

Fully Automated. Just load your samples and press start. Pair your Simple Western instrument with your automated liquid handler to prepare and load samples, reagents, antibodies, and wash buffer, and set up multiple plates for automated protein analysis.
Low Sample Volume. Use as little as 3 µL of starting material. Researchers can generate up to 8 data points with just 5 µL.
High Sensitivity Multiplex. Get industry-leading sensitivity in chemiluminescence and fluorescence channels and the advantage of flexible multiplex assays.
Fast Time to Results. With a processing time of 3 hours, Simple Western dramatically speeds up time to results compared to other Western blot processors.
Reproducible and Quantitative. By eliminating the variability from the gel-to-membrane transfer of Western blotting protocols, Simple Western is highly reproducible and fully quantitative. Plus, you get total protein detection and built-in total protein normalization.
Reduce Costs. RePlex™ on Jess and Abby lowers the cost per result compared to other Western blot processors. Save samples, reagents, time, and labor.
Simple Western Versus ELISA
Reduced Matrix EffectsSimple Western overcomes matrix effects of complex samples that can interfere with your ELISA and flow cytometry results. |
Simpler Assay DevelopmentOnly one target-specific antibody is required. Thousands of validated antibodies or validate a new antibody. |
Plus, Protein Size SeparationGet protein size information to quantify target protein isoforms, fragments, aggregates, degradation products, and more. |
Researchers Reveal Why They Use Simple Western
Researchers explain why they use our Simple Western next-generation immunoassay systems for automated protein analysis.
High-Sensitivity Multiplexing
Stellar™ NIR/IR Detection Modules provide industry-leading fluorescence sensitivity at detection levels below one pg, excellent reproducibility, and a four-log dynamic range. Stellar fluorescence detection rivals the widely recognized sensitivity of chemiluminescence detection and is 100X more sensitive than the closest competing fluorescent Western blotting imager.
Run Two Immunoassays in the Same Capillary
Perform sequential immunoassays in the same capillary with RePlex™. Unlike the strip and reprobe method of Western blotting membranes, RePlex completely removes primary antibodies and secondary antibodies from the capillary without losing your immobilized protein sample, allowing for excellent reproducibility between probing cycles. With RePlex assays on Simple Western, researchers leave behind the laborious and unreliable strip and reprobe method of Western blotting.
