What is a Luminex Bead-Based Multiplex Immunoassay?
Magnetic Luminex beads are internally dyed to give a distinct spectral signature or bead region. These beads are coated with analyte-specific antibodies where each bead region corresponds to a target analyte. Up to 50 different bead regions are mixed and incubated with the sample to capture analytes. After capture, a cocktail of biotinylated detection antibodies and a streptavidin-phycoerythrin conjugate is used to detect and quantify.
Taken together, R&D Systems® Discovery and High Performance (HP) assays comprise the largest selection of Luminex assays on the market. Assays are available for human, mouse and rat samples such as serum, plasma, and cell culture media. Use Discovery assays to profile potential biomarker candidates. Discovery assays allow you to choose from over 450 targets to multiplex up to 50 analytes in each assay. The Luminex Assay Customization tool allows you to carefully choose compatible targets. It will obviate any error caused by multiplexing with incompatible analytes. Build your assay using analytes of choice or purchase an off-the-shelf preconfigured panel. A wide variety of panels are available including: Cytokine/Chemokine, Immuno-Oncology Checkpoint, T Cell panels, MMP panels, Sepsis panels and more!
Once you have narrowed down your candidates, verify biomarker candidates with R&D Systems Luminex HP assays. HP assays are correlated with R&D Systems Quantikine ELISAs, which are the most accurate, precise and highly cited ELISA on the market. Luminex HP assays undergo a rigorous validation process that includes validation of linearity of dilution as well as recovery. HP assays use custom diluents that allow for increase sensitivity. Analytes in preconfigured HP panels have been optimized to work together.
